New Website for Central Oregon Coast Journalism
Our client, a retired professional journalist from the Portland metropolitan area, weekly uses his many years of expertise to provide excellent coverage of local issues and stories for our small news-hungry coastal community. Almost immediately, his weekly readership jumped to include a sizable percentage of the population, indicative of the quality of his journalistic acumen and editorial skills. This project also involves ongoing ad placement and rotation, as well as a unique set of WordPress plugins tailored to the online news magazine format. We were even able to quickly resolve a design requirement by requesting custom code from one plugin developer to arrange the sequence of photo credits and captions underneath photos in the order more typical of print journalism.
December 2020 update: Leveraging the power and versatility of the WordPress platform, the engaging, frequent, relevant, well-written posts on this site now routinely attract hundreds of daily visitors with peaks around 2,000 daily visits to a site less than 2 years old! The reach beyond the year-round population of Yachats (under 1000) indicates what skill and frequent pertinent news updates can accomplish, connecting with readers in the greater regional, statewide, and national communities and beyond.
