I took this photo when we were at the top of Pikes Peak – driving by these men were bicycling all the way up the peak and nearly there! Hard for me to even imagine, and I was watching!
This peak tops off at an altitude of 14,110 ft above sea level. This peak is the 31st highest peak out of 54 Colorado peaks. It is the farthest east of the big peaks in the Rocky Mountain chain, which contributed to its early fame among explorers, pioneers, and immigrants and made it the symbol of the 1859 Gold Rush to Colorado with the slogan, “Pikes Peak or Bust”. I just had to share this image so have created a free FaceBook profile image from it with a great quote from Mark Cuba. Download and enjoy! ~ Nancy
