If you’re interested in trying out WordPress (with a free site), WordPress.com is an easy and simple way to learn (with minimal technical training and effort); you can literally get a blog or a simple website going in a matter of minutes (or at least very few hours, depending on how much content you have in mind)… Then later, if you decide you like where your ‘site is going’ and want to upgrade to a more professional site, it’s an easy transition to migrate your content to a full-fledged, hosted WordPress.org website. If you want to save money for what might (at least initially) be a hobby or experiment, as well as learn how to use WordPress, this makes an easy transition/migration path, with minimal wasted time and effort.
Here’s an excellent overview and comparison article about the two siblings in the WordPress family. (Thanks to colleague and collaborator, Rich Webster for alerting us to this article.) If you still need help clarifying what might be the best option to get started with, feel free to contact us. 🙂
