Each year many artists in our little #coastaltown paint on blank canvas banners. There are typically about 30 of us that volunteer for this fun project. June to October visitors and residents enjoy the artful pieces hanging from the lampposts on the main street – which is coastal highway 101.
We have a theme each year but it’s pretty open to interpretation. In the month of October, the banners are taken down and repaired if needed, and an auction is held to raise funds for various causes in our community. 2020-21 has been rough for all, so for me showing a little get-together with fun and music put a smile on my face. Above the water is a crabbing boat run by cats and one of the more musical of the cats – after seeing musical notes! – grabbed his scuba gear and guitar to join in the fun below. I hope this banner puts a #smile on your face like it does mine.
